Mournful Monday

Today I overslept. To be perfectly honest, I went back to sleep after waking up. Just couldn't face the day. It's cold, grey, and despressingly snowy (at least only the southern half of the state is supposed to get snow tonight and tomorrow).

I just finished reading a very sad book called Still Alice by Lisa Genova. It is about a woman who gets early onset Alzheimer's. She is only 51 when she is diagnosed; she and her husband are both professors at Harvard. It is very well written, but make sure you have a box of tissues handy if you decide to read it. I probably shouldn't have read it right now, but it's a loaner from the library and I could only have it for 7 days. It causes me to consider a different perspective on death and living. Even if I were to die today I would rather have that occur than to experience a slow death from Alzheimer's.

I think I am going to go to the Y to run so I don't feel like a total slug today--G might disagree, though, since I haven't gotten a lot accomplished around here today. At least I got the dishes done...?

I've been meaning to get to the library for some new reading material. I'll check out Still Alice, though I'm not sure a sad read is what the doctor would order right now. :-)
